WS Breaks into European Market with First High-End Offshore Construction Vessel

On March 28th, Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Co.,Ltd (“WS”), an affiliate of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation under China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), officially started constructing the first high-end OCV (Offshore Construction Vessel) for European shipowner. This marks that the company has entered a new stage of “intelligent manufacturing” of high-end offshore engineering equipment.

The vessel measures 100 meters in overall length, 23 meters in beam, 9.6 meters in depth and 14.6 knots in speed. This vessel is equipped with four high-efficiency diesel generator sets and an electric propulsion system. Combined with battery energy storage technology, it significantly reduces energy consumption and carbon emissions. It is an important practice of WS in responding to the global carbon reduction strategy and meets the rigid demand for green vessels in the European market.

The vessel is equipped with an offshore engineering crane with an active wave compensation function and a lifting capacity of 150 tons. It supports ultra-deep water operations up to 3,000 meters. It can achieve high-precision lifting operations in harsh sea conditions and fully covers the dual needs of traditional oil and gas extraction and offshore wind power operation and maintenance.

As a leading enterprise in the field of domestic high-end offshore engineering shipbuilding, WS has formed a complete offshore equipment R&D and manufacturing system, and successfully built a professional product matrix covering a full range of AHTS and platform supply vessels (PSV) ranging from 6,000 to 32,000 horsepower.
