DACKS Achieves Milestone as World’s Fourth Builder of Dual-Fuel VLCCs with Successful LNG Tank Installation

Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co Ltd. (DACKS) successfully completed the installation of the 5,100 cubic meters C-Type liquefied natural gas (LNG) cryogenic storage tank for the first 309,000 dwt dual-fuel oil tanker.

The tank successfully installed this time is the largest single fuel LNG cryogenic tank currently installed in domestic shipyards. The realization of this installation node marks that DACKS’s technical strength in the field of green shipbuilding has reached a new level, accumulated experience for the subsequent construction of new energy ships, and injected new impetus into the company’s green and low-carbon transformation.

DACKS has integrated the concept of “greening the entire life cycle” into every aspect of ship design and construction. The first 309,000 dwt dual-fuel tanker equipped with LNG cryogenic storage tanks is the first new energy ship developed and built by the company. The successful construction of the ship also marks a new breakthrough in the production of new energy ships by DACKS, making it the fourth shipbuilder in the world to build dual-fuel VLCCs.
