Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Secures Major LNG Bunkering Vessel Order

Recently, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding (HPWS) under China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) jointly with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC) successfully signed a construction contract for two 20,000 cbm LNG bunkering vessels with Singapore’s Singfar Group in Guangzhou. The contract came with an option for two vessels of the same type.

This contract is one of the largest LNG bunkering vessel orders undertaken by a Chinese shipbuilder. The first two vessels have obtained long-term leases from well-known oil and gas companies, which fully demonstrates the market’s high recognition and confidence in this type of vessel, which is expected to become an important benchmark in the green shipping market in the future.

Designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), this 20,000 cbm LNG bunkering vessel integrates the world’s most advanced LNG bunkering technology. While ensuring environmental protection, safety and efficiency, the vessel fully complies with the latest standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and meets the stringent requirements of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) for system maneuverability and redundancy. This standard is widely regarded as the most mature and stringent regulatory system in the global LNG bunkering market.

The vessel is equipped with an LNG Dual Fuel Diesel Electric Propulsion (DFDE) system, which makes full use of BOG ( Boiled Off Gas ) as a fuel to improve energy efficiency and reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. The main generator meets Tier III requirements for NOx emissions in fuel mode, and the shore power system is configured to further reduce carbon emissions and noise pollution, enhancing the environmental performance of harbor berthing. The application of variable frequency drive equipment, combined with the energy efficiency monitoring system, optimizes the overall energy efficiency of the vessel and improves the energy saving and emission reduction level of the bunkering operation.

Since its establishment, Singfar Group has always adhered to the strategy of sustainable development and is committed to building a green, environmentally friendly and sustainable logistics and trading platform. The cooperation with Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding marks Singfar Group’s entry into the LNG bunkering market and provides a reliable LNG bunkering solution for more ship owners and energy companies around the world.

As a leading builder in the field of small and medium-sized gas carriers, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding continues to strengthen its competitiveness in the market of high-end LNG bunkering vessels, and this cooperation further enhances Huangpu Wenchong’s influence in the international clean energy shipping field.

Currently, Huangpu Wenchong holds a total of 16 gas carriers on hand (including 60,000 cbm dual-fuel LPG/NH₃ carriers, 48,000 cbm LPG/NH₃ carriers, 41,000 cbm dual-fuel LPG/NH₃ carriers, 25,000 cbm dual-fuel LPG/NH₃ carriers, and 20,000 cbm LNG bunkering carriers).

As global shipping transforms to low carbon and multi-fuel, the successful construction and operation of this bunkering vessel will provide more shipowners and charterers with state-of-the-art LNG bunkering solutions, and at the same time lay a solid foundation for subsequent orders and market promotion.
