Beihai Shipbuilding Advances CMB.TECH’s 319,000 DWT VLCC with Keel-Laying Ceremony

On March 18, CSSC Beihai Shipbuilding held a keel-laying ceremony for the first 319,000 DWT Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) built for Belgian company CMB.TECH in the No. 1 shipbuilding dock. The ceremony took place seven days ahead of the annual schedule, marking the official entry of the vessel into the assembly phase, laying a solid foundation for subsequent construction.

It is reported that this is the first ship in the VLCC series of cooperation between Beihai Shipbuilding and CMB.TECH, marking that Beihai Shipbuilding has realized full coverage in the field of three main ship types, namely bulk carrier, container ship and tanker.

Previously, Beihai Shipbuilding has delivered several 210,000 DWT ammonia-fueled reserved bulk carriers for CMB.TECH, and the cooperation between the two sides continues to deepen.

This ammonia-fueled VLCC will further enhance the competitiveness of Beihai Shipbuilding in the global tanker market. Beihai Shipbuilding will continue to promote technological innovation and industrial upgrading, and contribute to the “Double Carbon” goal.
