Lavinia in for six Chinese kamsarmax newbuilds

Greek owner Lavinia has placed orders in China for a total of six 82,000 dwt kamsarmax bulk carriers according to multiple broking sources. This marks Lavinia’s first newbuild orders for many years.

Four will be built at Qingdao Yangfan and the other two at COSCO Heavy Industries Yangzhou. All six vessels will be delivered between 2025 and 2026. The price of the new vessel has not yet been announced, and the price of a single vessel in the market is around $32 million.

Besides Lavinia, Qingdao Yangfan Shipyard last month signed a contract with Sea Traders, a bulk carrier company owned by Greek king George J. Procopiou, for the construction of four 82,000 dwt Kamsarmax bulk carriers, which are expected to be delivered between June and December 2026, and it is not clear whether the order includes options.
