According to ship broker MB Shipbrokers (formerly Maersk Brokerage), German shipowner Elbdeich Reederei has announced that it has exercised options for two 1,900TEU feeder container ships from Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation. The cost of each ship is US$32.35 million and is expected to be delivered in May and July 2027.
Together with the option order, Elbdeich Reederei has ordered four 1,900 TEU feeder container ships from Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding this year. The first order for 2 new ships was made public in January this year, with a single ship cost of about US$32.2 million, and is expected to be delivered in early 2027 with conventional fuel power.
In addition to the above order, Elbdeich Reederei had ordered 2+2 new 1,250 TEU methanol dual-fuel feeder container ships from Huangpu Wenchong in October 2023, scheduled for delivery in 2026, when they will be supplied to the Danish offshore operator Unifeeder Group, for which both parties have entered into a long-term chartering agreement.
The official website shows that Elbdeich Reederei was founded in 2004 and now is managed by its two managing partners, Peter Frese and Jens Moje, with a fleet of more than 30 ships.
