According to foreign media reports, German shipping company Oskar Wehr has ordered four general cargo vessels from a Chinese shipyard to expand its fleet.
Newbuilding sources said that Oskar Wehr has signed a contract with Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industry to build four 5,900 DWT general cargo vessels. The order value has not been disclosed. The new vessels are expected to be delivered successively from the second quarter of 2026 to the second quarter of 2027.
Founded in 1945 and currently run by the third generation of the family, Oskar Wehr is said to have last ordered new vessels at the end of 2007.In 2020, Oskar Wehr announced its withdrawal from the container ship market, and the shipowner has since focused primarily on the ultra-large and handysize dry bulk market.
