On March 12, ZPMC Qidong Marine Engineering, a subsidiary of Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC), held a keel laying ceremony for the 5,000 MT floating sheerleg crane vessel being built for Drydocks World.
The vessel was built by ZPMC, with a total length of 138. me5ters, a beam of 52 meters, a designed draft of 5.8 meters and a crew of 58. The crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 5,000 tons, is equipped with 4 main hooks, each with a lifting capacity of 1,250 tons, and a maximum lifting height of 120 meters above the deck. It is equipped with 1 auxiliary hook, with a lifting capacity of 600 tons and a maximum lifting height of 180 meters above the deck. The crane has a service life of 30 years under normal operation.
The commencement of construction of this project marks a solid step forward for ZPMC and Drydocks World in the field of offshore engineering equipment. After delivery, the vessel will become the largest crane vessel of its kind in the Persian Gulf and Africa, significantly improving the heavy lifting capacity in the region.
