On March 10th, “Fuyuan Yu 9199”, the largest specialized Antarctic krill fishing and processing vessel in China, built by Fujian Hengsheng Shipbuilding Industry, has completed the commissioning of equipment and supplies supply, setting sail from the port.
“Fuyuan Yu 9199” was invested by Fujian Zhengguan Fishery Development with a total investment of 601 million yuan. The vessel has an overall length of 138.8 meters, a beam of 24 meters, and a gross tonnage of 16,000. It is the largest specialized Antarctic krill fishing and processing vessel in China, as well as the first such vessel independently designed and built in Fujian Province. Additionally, it is the first ocean-going fishing vessel in Fujian Province to be classified by the China Classification Society (CCS).
Antarctic krill is the largest existing amount of marine biological resources on earth, reserves of more than 1 billion tons, is the fourth largest resource on earth after food, coal, oil, Antarctic krill fishing and processing vessels are always in the cold Antarctic ice area of low-temperature water operations, wind and waves, poor weather conditions.
Designed and built in accordance with the most advanced international technical standards for krill fishing vessels, “Fuyuan Yu 9199” meets the operational requirements of CCS B1 ice strengthening and -25℃ low-temperature environment, and is capable of catching 80,000 to 100,000 tons of Antarctic krill per year.
The vessel is equipped with the world’s most advanced continuous pumping fishing system and multiple fully automated krill product production lines, enabling continuous processing and automated packaging and transportation of products such as shelled krill meat, frozen krill, krill meal, and krill slurry.
Once operational, the vessel will significantly enhance China’s technological capabilities in Antarctic krill fishing, processing, equipment manufacturing, and scientific research. It will also drive related supporting enterprises to conduct fundamental research in efficient fishing, intelligent processing, and deep processing of krill products. This will improve China’s fishing and processing capabilities in Antarctic waters and promote the high-quality development of China’s deep-sea fishing industry.
