Construction Begins on China Yangtze Shipping Group’s 16 LNG-Powered 130-Meter Multi-Purpose Vessels

On March 6, Zhijiang Shengmao Shipyard and Wuhu Xinyuan Shipbuilding (hereinafter referred to as “Wuhu Xinyuan”) simultaneously started the construction of 16 130-meter LNG micro-ignition powered standard multi-purpose vessels for Changhang Freight, a subsidiary of China Yangtze Shipping Group Co.

The vessel is designed by Changjiang Ship Design Institute, with an overall length of 129.98 meters, which is the standard vessel type for inland Yangtze River of the Ministry of Transportation. It can flexibly transport a wide range of dry bulk cargoes and standard 20-foot containers with a gross tonnage of about 6,900 and a maximum cargo capacity of 10,270 tons.

In terms of power system, the vessel adopts LNG micro-ignition power technology, realizing LNG fuel substitution rate of 97%, reducing CO2 emission by 20% compared with traditional diesel power, and nearly zero pollution of sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides emission. With optimized design, this vessel significantly reduces energy consumption and maximizes gross tonnage and loading capacity, which has good economic benefits.

Meanwhile, this vessel is equipped with intelligent navigation aid, energy consumption management and ship-to-shore integration system, forming a “ship-shore-based” cooperative management and control mode, which greatly improves navigation safety and management efficiency.
