MSC Welcomes A LNG Dual-Fuel 16,000 TEU Container Ship into Fleet

On March 5, “MSC ANNAMARIA”, the fourth LNG dual-fuel 16,000 TEU container ship built by Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding for shipowner Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), departed from the shipyard and was officially delivered to the owner, marking its entry into operation.

The vessel commenced construction in early December 2023, entered the dock for assembly in early June 2024, was launched in late October, and successfully completed sea trials in late February 2025, with all test results meeting the design standards.

“MSC ANNAMARIA” is the 4th ship in a series of 12 16,000 TEU Dual Fuel Container Ships built by Yangzijiang Group for owner MSC. Unlike the other 3 ships in the series delivered previously, this ship is the first large container ship built by Yangzi Xinfu to be equipped with a windshield device, which can effectively reduce the wind resistance of the ship when it is traveling, and reduce carbon emissions by reducing fuel consumption, which will help to further realize the greening and high efficiency of the ship’s operation.

On February 27, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and the owner of MSC held a naming ceremony for the new ship, and on March 3, “MSC ANNAMARIA” was signed and delivered.
