On March 5, Wuhan Innovation Supply Chain and Nanjing Pan Flying Intelligent Logistics Joint Stock Company formally signed a cooperation agreement on the investment and construction of 15,000-ton methanol-powered river-sea direct vessels.
This 15000-ton methanol single-fuel river-sea direct bulk carrier is independently developed by Wuhan Innovation Supply Chain. On December 28, 2024, Jiangsu Qinfeng Shipping Industry started the construction of the first batch of four. The vessel has an overall length of 129.70 meters, a beam of 22.60 meters and a depth of 10.20 meters. It adopts the methanol single-fuel main engine developed by Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research institute (SMDERI) , which is classed by CCS.
Nanjing Pan Flying Intelligent Logistics Joint Stock Company is committed to building the core enterprise of domestic shipping logistics platform, and continues to make efforts to build the smart water transportation platform and capacity upgrading, and has strong willingness to invest in the 15,000 DWT methanol-powered river-sea direct bulk carriers.
The company believes that this vessel has the characteristics of large capacity, green intelligence, direct river and sea transportation, etc., with strong social functions and economic benefits, and can meet the demand for bulk bulk cargo transportation of iron ore, grain, coal, sand and gravel materials from Ningbo Zhoushan to the Changjiang River trunk line, and adapt to the majority of ports below Chenglingji on the Changjiang River trunk line.
Meanwhile, this project leverages Wuhan Innovation Supply Chain’s extensive experience in intelligent equipment manufacturing and green technology, offering significant advantages in shipbuilding and material equipment procurement, which can effectively control construction costs.
This signed cooperative project, independently invested by Nanjing Pan Flying Intelligent Logistics and with Wuhan Innovation Supply Chain responsible for the turnkey construction, represents a beneficial exploration by both parties in advancing the batch application of methanol-powered new energy vessel types.
This innovative collaboration will accelerate industry transformation, genuinely practicing the full industry chain model of merchant ship development, design, investment, integration, construction, operation, and sales. It provides replicable experience for the high-quality development of the shipping industry in the Changjiang River Economic Belt and even across the nation.
