Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding breaks ground for an 18,600 cbm LNG bunkering vessel

On March 3rd, Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding held a steel cutting ceremony for the No. 1 ship of the 18,600 cbm LNG bunkering vessel, constructed for the French company TotalEnergies, at its new plant.

Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding stated that this is the 100th LNG storage and transportation equipment constructed by the company, which is of great significance in its development history.

The vessel has a total length of 135.9 meters, a beam of 24.5 meters, and a designed speed of 12 knots. It is equipped with the GTT MARK III FLEX cargo containment system, boasting a cargo tank capacity of 18,600 cbm and an evaporation rate as low as 0.16%/day.

Developed independently by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, this vessel represents the pinnacle of global bunkering vessel technology, being the largest and most advanced Version 3.0 bunkering vessel currently available worldwide. Compared to the previously constructed LNG bunkering vessels for TotalEnergies, namely the Version 1.0 “Gas Agility” and Version 2.0 “Gas Vitality,” this new vessel offers superior ship-to-shore compatibility, lower energy consumption and emissions, and enhanced energy efficiency and environmental protection features.
