Mawei Shipbuilding delivers two 76-metre large tuna purse seiners

On 3rd March, Mawei Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding, successfully delivered two 76-metre large tuna purse seiners (HULL NO.MW820-1/2) for Ocean Family.

The vessel is 76.73 meters in total length, 13.50 meters in beam, and has a fish hold capacity of approximately 1,880 cubic meters. The vessel has a free speed of 15.60 knots, a crew of 38, and is classified by the China Classification Society. It has an excellent hull line design, good maneuverability, stability and seaworthiness, and can sail in the central and western Pacific regions.

The vessel is equipped with advanced facilities, including a helicopter platform, Doppler sonar, a new S-band seabird radar, solar-powered radio buoys, eco-friendly refrigerants, a color fish finder, and a fishery remote sensing system. These features provide robust capabilities for fish detection and positioning, enabling precise and intelligent fishing operations. The vessel’s overall performance has reached internationally leading standards.

According to the introduction, these two new vessels are the first batch of vessels successfully delivered under the adaptive technology transformation project of Mawei Shipbuilding by adopting the lateral slipway of hydraulic engineering for launching.

As early as 2013, Ocean Family has signed a contract with Mawei Shipbuilding for 2 large tuna purse seiners. Mawei Shipbuilding has been deeply cultivating in the field of designing and building large tuna purse seine vessels for many years, and up to now, Mawei Shipbuilding has successfully delivered 11 vessels of the same type.
