On March 3, the construction of a new onshore platform for the Wenchang 16-2 oil field development project was completed at the COOEC Zhuhai Deepwater Equipment Manufacturing Base, marking a key progress in the project construction and laying a solid foundation for the project to be put into production on schedule.
The Wenchang 16-2 oilfield development project is located in the western waters of the Pearl River Mouth Basin, about 200 kilometers away from Wenchang City, Hainan Province. The water depth of the operating sea area is about 150 meters. The project is designed to build a new jacket platform, and the length of the submarine pipeline and submarine cable for oil and gas mixing and transmission of Wenchang 16-2 WHPA platform is more than 28 kilometers.
The Wenchang 16-2WHPA platform has the functions of oil and gas extraction, personnel living support and offshore drilling and completion operations. The platform structure consists of four units: the jacket, the topside module, the living building module and the modular drilling rig. The total height exceeds 200 meters and the total weight is about 19,200 tons, which is close to the total weight of 13,000 cars.
Based on the information available, this platform jacket features a four-leg, twelve-skirt pile structure with a total height exceeding 160 meters. It is currently the tallest jacket among offshore oil and gas production platforms in the Hainan Island region.
The topside module of the platform contains four decks, equipped with more than 60 sets of production equipments, with a length of 65 meters, a width of 49 meters, and equivalent to the size of 7.5 standard basketball courts. The living building adopts the industry standardized design of plate and shell structure, which can provide protection for the long-term residence of 80 operators at sea. The modular drilling rig is set up with 20 well slots and multiple automation equipments and the design life is up to 25 years, which can meet the basic needs of oil field development and construction.
Next, COOEC will steadily push forward the underwater piling, the topside module installation and other subsequent construction operations, the project will be put into operation for the delivery of oil and gas resources for the region around the island of Hainan, injecting strong kinetic energy for guaranteeing energy security and boosting regional economic development.
