Xinneng Shipbuilding Signs Electric Container Ship Project with CMA CGM

On February 27th, Jining Energy’s Xinneng Shipbuilding and France’s CMA CGM Group signed a contract in Shanghai for a 182 TEU class electric container ship project.

At the signing ceremony, Zhang Qiang, Chairman of Shandong Xinneng Shipbuilding, and Leclercq Xavier, Vice President of French CMA CGM Group, signed the ship order contract on behalf of both parties.

Xinneng Shipbuilding is an emerging force in China’s inland river new energy ship industry, with significant advantages in automation, intelligence and green development, and has gained favor from many parties in the field of shipbuilding.

Xinneng Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Jining Energy Development Group, was established in May 2022 and commenced production in August 2024. The company specializes in the research, design, manufacturing, and retrofitting of new energy ships. The shipyard covers an area of 1,757 mu, with a total investment of about 5.03 billion yuan. It boasts an annual production capacity of 400 inland ships ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 tons, as well as the capability to repair and retrofit 100 ships. It is the first domestic inland new energy shipbuilding demonstration base in China that integrates research and design with intelligent manufacturing.
