GSI Delivers an 8,600 CEU Dual Fuel PCTC

On February 27th, a naming ceremony for the first 8600 CEU dual-fuel PCTC (pure car and track carrier), constructed by Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), a subsidiary of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, was held at the Haijia Automobile Terminal in Nansha Port, Guangzhou.

The PCTC had already been signed over and delivered on February 26th. The new vessel was christened “GLOVIS TRUST,” marking another milestone for Guangzhou Shipyard International in the field of high-end PCTC construction and contributing Chinese expertise to the green and low-carbon development of the global shipping industry.

It is reported that the 8600 CEU dual-fuel PCTC is another important achievement of GSI in practicing the concept of green development and promoting the transformation and upgrading of the shipbuilding industry. With an overall length of 200 meters, a beam of 38 meters, and a design speed of 19 knots, the PCTC has a 14 car decks and is capable of loading at least 8,600 standard cars. In order to meet the loading requirements of different cargoes such as engineering vehicles and special equipment, the PCTC is designed with 5 lifting decks. It is worth noting that this PCTC is the “expanded and upgraded version” of the original 7,000 CEU dual-fuel PCTC.

Equipped with an advanced intelligent ship system, this PCTC enables intelligent management of navigation, engine room, cargo systems, and more, effectively enhancing the operational efficiency and safety of the vessel. Additionally, the PCTC incorporates multiple energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies, such as hull line optimization, propeller fairings, and a main engine waste heat recovery system, further reducing its energy consumption and emissions. Moreover, it utilizes an LNG/fuel dual-fuel propulsion system that complies with the International Maritime Organization’s Tier III emission standards, featuring green environmental protection, energy efficiency, and safety reliability.

It is worth mentioning that GSI has received orders for nearly 40 PCTCs and has successfully built and delivered 13 of them so far. The shipbuilder has set a new record of delivering more than 8 months ahead of schedule through process optimization and updating of production equipment, and the construction efficiency has reached the international leading level.
