Jiangxin Shipbuilding receives EPC contract for a command and control vessel

On February 24th, the centralized signing ceremony for the construction units of the Hainan Commercial Aerospace Launch Site (Phase II) project was held in Wenchang, Hainan.

Led by Jiangxi Jiangxin Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Jiangxi Military Industry Group, the company successfully signed the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contract for the design, procurement, and construction of the command and control ship for the reusable rocket maritime recovery system. This project is part of the supporting facilities for the launch and recovery of the Hainan Commercial Aerospace Launch Site.

The EPC project for this command and control vessel represents the largest single-ship contract secured by Jiangxin Shipbuilding since its incorporation into Jiangxi Military Industry Group. It also marks the company’s first single-ship contract exceeding RMB 100 million signed this year.

It is reported that this vessel has a total length of 99.00 meters, a beam of 17.60 meters, a depth of 8.10 meters, and a designed draft of 5.59 meters. It is propelled by double engines, double propellers and double rudders, with a speed of not less than 12 knots, a range of 8,000 nautical miles, a self-sustainability of 30 days, and an unlimited navigable area.

This vessel is a specialized command and control ship designed for remotely controlling maritime rocket launch and recovery operations. It is equipped with DP-2 dynamic positioning, long-distance towing, helicopter deck support, and FF1-class external firefighting capabilities.

The vessel will primarily be used for remote control of maritime recovery operations, personnel support, communication command and information transmission, and dynamic positioning. Upon completion, it will serve as the “command center” for rocket maritime recovery and a “stabilizing force” ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable execution of launch missions. It will provide robust support for future rocket maritime recovery tasks, contributing to the high-quality development of China’s aerospace industry.
