On February 24, the AEROFOIL “Yufengyi” wing sail developed by CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding Industrial Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter as “DSID”) received the Basic Design Approval (BDA) and Prototype Approval (PA) certificates from the French classification society Bureau Veritas (BV).
In the background of the global advocacy of energy saving and emission reduction, to promote the accelerated upgrading of climate governance, the shipping industry, as the pillar industry responsible for 90% of the world’s trade and transportation, is facing enormous pressure on environmental protection.
The launch of the AEROFOIL “Yufengyi” wing sail has opened a new path in this field. This wing sail, optimized in design to align with the ship’s hull lines, can make full use of wind energy to provide auxiliary power for ships.
The AEROFOIL “Yufengyi” wing sail is equipped with an intelligent integrated operating system. Its built-in smart control system can capture real-time data on wind direction, wind speed, and ship navigation parameters, automatically adjusting the sail’s angle and posture to maximize wind energy utilization. The technology has been verified by real ships, and the comprehensive fuel saving rate reaches 8%~30% in different routes, which not only significantly reduces fuel consumption and operating costs, but also reduces pollutant emissions, injecting efficient kinetic energy for the green development of the shipping industry.
DSID, as the backbone of the emerging industry of Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC), undertakes the design, research and development and industrialization of sail booster equipment. On the basis of successfully obtaining the BV double certification, the company will continue to promote technological innovation, accelerate the process of industrial intelligentization and digital transformation, and strive to improve the quality of core products, so as to provide customers with more excellent and environmentally friendly marine equipment products and services.
