Recently, Universe Shipbuilding (Yangzhou) officially broke ground for the first batch of three 18,500DWT new energy (single-fuel LNG) river-sea direct bulk carriers to be built for Zhejiang Huayu Shipping Development Co.
The vessel has an overall length of 139.80 meters, a beam of 24.00 meters, a depth of 11.00 meters and a design draft of 8.00 meters.
Compared with traditional fuel vessels, this vessel uses LNG as a single fuel as power, which greatly reduces the emissions of sulfur oxides, carbon oxides and particulate matter, effectively reducing pollution to the environment. It complies with the requirements for new energy and clean energy operating vessels issued by the Ministry of Transport and the National Development and Reform Commission, and contributes to protecting the ecological environment of rivers and seas.
This type of vessel has a large cargo capacity, shallow draft, low energy efficiency and high efficiency, indicating that direct river-sea shipping is moving towards a more environmentally friendly and efficient direction.
After completion, this batch of vessels will be mainly put into operation from the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River to the Zhoushan Islands, undertaking direct river-sea transportation of bulk goods such as ore, coal, and grain, and contributing to the prosperity and development of the regional economy.
