COSCO Shipping Holdings holds naming ceremony for first 16,136 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship

On February 18th, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou), a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, successfully held the naming ceremony for the domestically first-built 16,136 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship (N1071). The successful construction of this project marks a significant milestone for COSCO Shipping Holdings in developing green and low-carbon strategic emerging industries and advancing the construction of a new energy-fueled fleet.

The methanol dual-fuel container ship named this time is the first new energy ship built by COSCO Shipping Holdings in COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou).

With an overall length of 366 meters, a beam of 51 meters and a maximum loading capacity of 16,136 TEUs, the ship has reached the industry’s leading level in terms of technological innovation, green and low carbon, digital intelligence and other dimensions.

With its innovatively designed extra-large methanol storage tank, the ship can complete a one-way voyage from the Far East to the West Coast of the United States under methanol power mode, greatly improving the ship’s operating efficiency and providing a new solution for COSCO Shipping’s optimization of global shipping routes.

Meanwhile, with the support of the digital intelligent system, the ship’s energy consumption and carbon reduction indicators have been significantly optimized, demonstrating excellent energy utilization efficiency and setting a new benchmark for energy saving and emission reduction in the shipping industry.
