Wison New Energies Holds the Keel Laying Ceremony for the Genting FLNG Project

On February 18, Wison New Energies (WNE) held the Keel Laying Ceremony for the Genting FLNG Project at its Nantong Yard, marking the official entry of Indonesia’s first FLNG facility into the core construction phase.

In June 2024, Wison New Energies and Genting’s two subsidiaries, Genting Oil & Gas Sdn Bhd and PT Layar Nusantara Gas, entered into an EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, Commissioning) contract for Genting FLNG Project.

The FLNG facility with a total length of approximately 278.8 meters, a width of 60 meters, and an operational water depth of 32.8 meters, adopts WNE’s self-developed standardized design. It is expected to have an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons.

Upon completion, the FLNG facility will be deployed to West Papua, Indonesia, where it will liquefy natural gas produced from the concession area of the Kasuri Block in West Papua, Indonesia, thereby helping Indonesia achieve a green transformation of its energy structure. Prior to entering into the EPCIC Contract, parties had, on September 8, 2023, executed a Limited Notice to Proceed Agreement for the procurement of long lead items. Currently, 90% of the ship models are undergoing assessment, while the main hull detailing and Topside process system design are in the final stages of completion.

The smooth keel laying of the Genting FLNG Project signifies the further consolidation of WNE’s leading position in the international high-end clean energy market. Riding on this cooperation, WNE will continue to explore the development of natural gas resources and low-carbon energy solutions in Southeast Asia with the Genting Group, providing more efficient and reliable EPCIC services to customers, contributing to the global energy transformation, and accelerating the journey towards a “zero-carbon future”.
