Mitsui E&S Delivers 6G50ME-C9.6-LGIM Methanol Dual Fuel Engine

MITSUI E&S Co., Ltd. (MITSUI E&S) has delivered a Methanol dual fuel engine ‘MITSUI-MAN B&W 6G50ME-C9.6- LGIM-EGRBP’ completed at MITSUI E&S Tamano Factory, to TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING Co., Ltd. (TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING). A second unit is also scheduled for delivery to TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING during the current financial year.

Methanol is easy to handle on ships, as it can be kept in a liquid state at room temperature, and green methanol , which can significantly reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, is expected to become more widely used as a marine fuel in the future. The application of Methanol dual fuel engines in new ships have been increasing in recent years, with the aim of decarbonizing international shipping. MITSUI E&S increases testing facilities for Methanol dual fuel engines in response to customer needs.

Since delivering the world’s first Methanol dual fuel engine in 2015, we have accumulated knowledge of maintenance and inspection services and will continue to use this experience to provide customer-oriented services so that Methanol dual fuel engines can be adopted with peace of mind. As well as marine propulsion system supplier, we will continue to contribute to the realization of a low-carbon and decarbonized society in the field of maritime logistics.
