On February 14, COSCO SHIPPING Energy Transportation (COSCO SHIPPING Energy) and COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry officially signed a construction contract for 6 tankers, including 2 Aframax tankers, 2 LR2 tankers and 2 Panamax tankers, of which 2 Aframax and 2 LR2 are methanol dual-fuel vessels, and the 2 are Panamax tankers meet the METHANOL READY requirements.
The series of vessels signed this time have both advanced overall performance and better energy efficiency design index, which is of great significance for COSCO Shipping Energy to promote the green, low-carbon and intelligent development of its fleet against the backdrop of the accelerated carbon emission reduction in the international shipping industry.
New energy fuel use
The use of green methanol as fuel can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 24,000 tons per year, which can effectively respond to the pressure to reduce emissions such as the EU carbon tax and the CII carbon intensity index, solving problems such as excessive carbon emissions.
Ship Design Optimization
These three types of vessels signed this time are all designed with the latest technology and standards, with excellent performance in energy consumption index, cargo carrying capacity and operational suitability, and the comprehensive performance of the vessels is at the international advanced level.
Intelligent Ship System Application
The vessel system meets the requirements of Class Notation i-Ship (N,M,E,I), and can optimize routes, reduce fuel consumption, and lower equipment maintenance costs by intelligently collecting, analyzing, and applying vessel operation data.
According to previous reports, in the evening of February 12, COSCO Shipping Energy released an announcement, announcing that it will order six tankers in the shipyards belonging to COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry, with a total investment of RMB 3.496 billion.
Among them, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) undertook two 74,000 DWT Panamax Ready methanol-fueled crude oil/products tankers at a price of RMB 456 million each; COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) undertook two 114,200 DWT Aframax methanol-dual fuel crude oil tankers at a price of RMB 610 million each; COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) undertook two 109,900 DWT LR2 methanol-dual fuel crude oil/products tankers at a price of RMB 630 million each.
