Jiangnan Shipyard kicks off construction of a new large LNG carrier developed and designed by itself

On February 13th, Jiangnan Shipyard, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), formally kicked off the construction of the first ship (H2716) of the 175,000 cbm large LNG carriers series to be built for Sinopec’s project.

This 175,000 cbm large LNG carrier, which belongs to Jiangnan Shipyard’s main construction products, is a new type of LNG carrier (“LNG JUMBO”) independently developed, iterated and upgraded by Jiangnan Shipyard based on the design concepts of the latest and the most advanced large-scale international LNG carriers.

With an overall length of 298.5 meters, a beam of 46 meters and a depth of 26.5 meters, it meets the latest regulations and has the advantages of mainstream, reliability, energy saving and environmental protection, and its comprehensive economic performance indexes have reached the international advanced level.

Meanwhile, based on the construction experience of the first-generation LNG carrier, this ship type will apply new construction method. The engine room and cargo hold will be constructed in a coordinated manner to balance the workload in the dock. Combined with the technical characteristics of thin-film LNG transportation, Jiangnan Shipyard vigorously pushes forward technological innovation and management enhancement, and continuously improves product quality and production efficiency.
