Recently, Norwegian chemical tanker owner Odfjell released its 2024 financial report, achieving the strongest financial performance in its history with an annual net profit of 278 million USD.
In its financial report, Odfjell disclosed that it placed orders for three new vessels in the fourth quarter, including one 25,000 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker, set to be delivered in 2026, and two 49,000 DWT chemical tankers, scheduled for delivery in 2027 and 2028.
The 25,000 DWT stainless steel chemical tanker was built by Shin Kurushima Dockyard in Japan and is Odfjell’s own vessel, while two 49,000 DWT chemical tankers were built by Yangzi Mitsui Shipbuilding and ordered by a third party owner, which Odfjell holds through a long term charter agreement.
Odfjell said that, together with new orders, Odfjell currently holds newbuilding contracts for 18 vessels, including two owned vessels.Odfjell currently operates 71 vessels with a total deadweight of about 2.55 million tons, of which 36 are owned vessels.
