On February 7, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) achieved two major milestones on the same day for two 154,000 DWT shuttle tankers under construction. The N1227 project was officially kicked off in the No. 1 hull workshop; the N1012 project was successfully laid keel in Dock No. 3 dock, entering the substantial assembly phase.
This series of vessels is classed by DNV and equipped with a DP2 dynamic positioning system and a bow loading system. The vessels meet Tier III emission standards and the requirements of EEDI Phase 2.
The N1227 project adopts a new generation of energy-saving and environmentally-friendly design, innovatively developed by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Design and Research Institute, with completely independent intellectual property rights. With the same cargo capacity and speed, the main engine fuel consumption of this vessel type can be reduced by 10%, significantly improving economic and social benefits.
With the commencement of the N1227 project and the keel laying and assembly of the N1012 project, the construction of the two shuttle tankers has entered a new phase.
