South Korean mid-sized shipyard Dae Sun Shipbuilding announced on February 7 that it has successfully delivered a 1,023 TEU container ship named “YUANHE” to Chinese shipowner SITC International Holdings Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as “SITC International”).
In May 2021, SITC International ordered ten 1023 TEU feeder container ships from Dae Sun Shipbuilding, with each ship costing US$19.2 million and a total price of US$192 million. This delivery is the ninth ship in the series.
The ship is equipped with intelligent navigation solutions and real-time monitoring systems, which can manage and optimize routes, speed, fuel consumption and various ship conditions in real time.
It is reported that SITC International is an old customer of Dae Sun Shipbuilding and has been ordering container ships from Dae Sun Shipbuilding since the 1990s.
Dae Sun Shipbuilding once faced a bankruptcy crisis. Thanks to the recovery in the shipbuilding market, the shipyard successfully restructured, received new orders, and resumed operations.
When delivering the YUANHE, a manager of the shipyard said, “Since resuming work in October 2023, thanks to the active cooperation between Dae Sun Shipbuilding and its creditors, we have been delivering ships according to the planned schedule. We will continue to promote the normalization of business by building high-quality ships and delivering them on time.”
