On January 22nd, the 49,600 DWT chemical/product tanker No. 7, built by Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI) under China State Shipbuilding Corporation in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), was completed and delivered 68 days ahead of the contract schedule. This is the third new vessel delivered by GSI since January of this year.
It is reported that the new vessel is named “REDAMANCY”. A total of 8 vessels of this series are planned to be built, with a length of 183 meters, a beam of 32 meters, a designed draft of 11 meters, and a service speed of 14.5 knots.
It is a new generation of MR tankers independently developed and tailored by GSI for China Development Bank Financial Leasing (CDB Leasing). This ship type combines energy saving and environmental protection. After sea trials, it has been verified that it meets the third stage emission requirements of the International Maritime Organization EEDI that will take effect on January 1, 2025 at a high level, fully demonstrating Guangzhou Shipyard International’s market leading position in the field of MR tankers.
On January 16, GSI delivered the 49,500 DWT methanol dual-fuel chemical/product tanker No. 1 “ECOMAR GASCOGNE” to ECOMAR, completing the delivery more than 3 months ahead of the contract period.
On January 7th, GSI delivered the 7,000 CEU dual-fuel PCTC No. 1, “BYD HEFEI,” to BYD. The vessel was completed and delivered more than 80 days ahead of the contract schedule.
Additionally, the ship repair production at Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard Co., Ltd. (GWS), a subsidiary of GSI, has also seen a vibrant and progressive situation. Since January of this year, eight vessels have been repaired and retrofitted.
