On January 22nd, CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding held a headquarters relocation inauguration event at its Longxue plant.
Luo Bing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of Huangpu Wenchong, stated that since the new century, the company’s output value, scale, efficiency, and profit have continued to grow significantly, evolving from a medium-sized shipyard with an annual output value of only RMB 300-400 million to a large shipbuilding enterprise with an annual output value exceeding RMB 20 billion (approx. US$ 2.75 billion). The company’s industry status and reputation have been continuously consolidated and enhanced. Currently, Huangpu Wenchong holds orders worth more than RMB 54 billion (approx. US$7.41 billion), with the construction slots scheduled up to 2029. The land acquisition in the northern area of Longxue is gradually advancing, and the Longxue plant area will become the focus of future development and construction.
As the business scale of the Longxue plant area is about to reach RMB 10 billion, Huangpu Wenchong has decided to relocate its headquarters decision-making center and the office locations of various functional departments from Changzhou, Huangpu, Guangzhou, to Longxue, Nansha (No. 10, Beilu, Jibaosha, Nansha District, Guangzhou). After the relocation, the operation and production model and specific business of the Changzhou plant area will remain unchanged.
Since the beginning of the new century, Huangpu Wenchong has started investing in the construction of the Longxue plant. On March 28, 2007, the first pile foundation was laid for the new plant area; on February 28, 2008, the first batch of employees moved into Longxue. The industrial total output value of the Longxue plant area increased by 590%, from RMB 1.37 billion in 2009 to RMB 8.09 billion in 2024. Today, the Longxue plant has become the main site for Huangpu Wenchong’s focus on building ship types and high-end offshore engineering equipment.
It is understood that Huangpu Wenchong’s Longdong plant covers an area of 1.18 million square meters, outfitting wharf 1,880 meters, with a dock, 25,000-ton slipway and indoor assembly workshop and other facilities. In 2024, Huangpu Wenchong Longxue plant delivered 19 ships with 684,700 deadweight tons, and completed gross industrial output value of RMB 8.09 billion.
