On January 22, Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co Ltd.(DACKS) grandly named and delivered the first 64,000 DWT bulk carrier in 2025, which was named “OPAL WEALTH”. The successful naming and delivery of the vessel has laid a good start for the annual production and operation of DACKS.
“OPAL WEALTH” has excellent overall design performance and outstanding features of safety, energy saving, environmental protection and intelligence, which meets the requirements of the third stage of the Ship Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI). As the main product of DACKS, the 64,000 dwt bulk carrier has become a popular star product in the shipbuilding market.
The year 2025 marks the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the shipowner company of the “OPAL WEALTH”. As the first new ship built by the shipowner in the 150th anniversary, the ship carries special significance. It is also the 100th ship in the cooperation history between the middleman ITOCHU and KHI, fully demonstrating the long-term and deep cooperative relationship between the two parties.
It is reported that the owner of “OPAL WEALTH” cooperated with DACKS as early as 2018, and DACKS has successfully delivered four ships before that. These four ships are emerging in the current shipping market, creating great wealth for the shipowner company and winning a good market reputation for DACKS.
