On January 21, the maiden voyage ceremony of “AICC HUANGHU”—Anhui Province’s first 7,000 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC, built for Anhui Hangrui International RoRo Transportation, a subsidiary of Anhui Port and Shipping Group—was held, marking the opening of the China-Mediterranean route.
“AICC HUANGHU” is the first batch of PCTCs invested and built by Anhui Hangrui International RoRo Transportation. It was designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI), built by Wuhu Shipyard and independently operated by Anhui Hangrui International RoRo Transportation.
The vessel has an overall length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 38 meters, a depth of 15.5 meters, a maximum draught of 10 meters, a gross tonnage of 71,000 tons, and a cargo hold with 12 vehicle decks (of which 4 are movable decks), which can carry all kinds of vehicles, including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, new energy vehicles, and construction machinery.
The vessel’s propulsion system adopts the latest generation WinGD dual-fuel main engine, MacGregor electronically controlled RORO system with iCER technology, permanent magnet shaft with generator, and BOG energy-saving design, which meets the strict Tier III emission standard requirements of the International Maritime Organization.
The maiden voyage of “AICC HUANGHU” will carry more than 4,300 export vehicles including passenger cars, commercial vehicles and construction machinery, departing from Shanghai Port to the Mediterranean, calling at ports in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Italy, Spain and other countries on the way.
The maiden voyage of “AICC HUANGHU” will open the first international ro-ro shipping route from Anhui Province to the Mediterranean Sea, realizing the linkage between trunk and branch lines and access to rivers and seas, and realizing “Chinese ships, made in China, Chinese vehicles, and transported by China”. It also marks the new launch of the ocean-going ro-ro shipping fleet of Anhui Ports and Shipping Group, officially entering the “ocean-going era” and “new energy era”.
It is understood that, in addition to “AICC HUANGHU”, this year, Anhui Provincial Port and Shipping Group will also have two 7,000 CEU LNG dual-fuel ocean-going ro-ro ships completed and put into operation, the annual transport capacity of up to 100,000 vehicles.
