As the global shipping industry actively implements the MASS (Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships) Convention and accelerates towards the era of autonomous ships, Chinese shipowners, classification societies, and development units are joining forces to actively explore and practice, driving the shipping industry towards a new journey of intelligence and autonomy.
On January 15th, ZhenDui Industry Artificial Intelligence (ZDIAI) and Shanghai Jianqiao International Navigation signed a cooperation agreement to jointly explore the market application of remote ship control (R1) and cybersecurity (E26). The aim is to create the world’s first commercial chemical tanker that meets the R1 symbol requirements of the “Intelligent Ship Code (2024)” for remote control ships.
In this cooperation, Shanghai Jianqiao International Navigation, as the owner-user, provides demand guidance for the project. China Classification Society (CCS) Shanghai Code Research Institute, Innovation Testing Centerof the China Classification Society provided support and assistance in the implementation and application of standards, technical research, and certification guidance, ensuring the smooth progress of the project.
It is understood that ZDIAI was established in September 2019 and is a pilot enterprise for mixed-ownership reform under the China State Shipbuilding Corporation. The company’s independently developed “Marine Equipment Industrial Internet Platform + Marine Equipment Intelligent System + Marine Data Service” has been widely applied to a full range of ship types in domestic and international transportation, offshore engineering, and public service sectors.
