Beihai Shipbuilding Delivers a 5500 TEU Container Ship to CMA CGM

On January 20, a naming and delivery ceremony was held for CMA CGM OUVEA, a series of 5,500 TEU containerships built by China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Beihai Shipbuilding for CMA CGM Group. This vessel is the 9th 5500TEU container ship delivered by Beihai Shipbuilding.

“CMA CGM OUVEA” is an energy-saving, environmentally friendly, green, safe and efficient medium-sized container ship designed by Beihai Shipbuilding and Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) for CMA CGM.

With an overall length of 255.5 meters, a beam of 40.0 meters and a deadweight of 73,025.91 tons, its Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) has further improved to 53.6% below the baseline.

The ship is equipped with the WinGD 7X82-2.0 version main engine, which uses aSTC to further optimize fuel consumption. It has received the BV FORS notation for the Fuel Oil Recovery System, allowing for the rapid recovery of fuel oil from the fuel tank in the event of a maritime incident.

Additionally, the ship is equipped with the SmartBridge suite, enhancing operational efficiency and safety during port entry and docking operations. It meets the requirements of the BV ESA symbol, making it a safe, reliable, and environmentally friendly high-quality ship.
