On January 20, Italy’s Fratelli Cosulich released on its official website that it has ordered another 7,999 dwt IMO 2 chemical bunkering vessel from at Chinese shipbuilder Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipbuilding, which is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The new vessel can transport fuel oil, B100 biofuel and methanol, and are designed to be methanol-ready.
Back in July last year, Fratelli Cosulich announced that it had signed a contract with Maple Leaf Shipbuilding for the construction of 2+2 7,999 dwt methanol reserved IMO 2 chemical bunkering vessels, the first of which is expected to be delivered in the first half of 2026. And the latest contract is for one of the option vessels.
Fratelli Cosulich said that with the latest order, the total number of methanol-fueled vessels in its fleet will increase to four. In addition to the three vessels mentioned above, another one is also being built by Maple Leaf Shipbuilding.
In December 2023, Fratelli Cosulich ordered its first 7,990 dwt methanol dual-fuel bunkering vessel from Maple Leaf Shipbuilding, with delivery scheduled for the second quarter of 2025.
