Hengli Heavy Industry Holds Naming and Delivery Ceremony for Two 82,000 DWT Bulk Carriers

On January 18, Hengli Heavy Industry held a naming and delivery ceremony for two 82,000 dwt bulk carriers, which is the first time since the shipyard’s full operation to realize the delivery of two vessels in a single day, and also the first delivery in the opening year of 2025.

The two new vessels delivered this time are of the same type, named “BH PROGRESS” and “BH FORTUNE” respectively. With an overall length of 229 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters, a design draft of 12.2 meters, a design speed of 14 knots, and a deadweight of 82,000 tons, this type of vessel is a mainstream bulk carrier in the ocean shipping market and meets the requirements of the latest regulatory requirements and various pollutant gas emission standards.

On the occasion of Hengli Heavy Industry’s second anniversary last year, Hengli Heavy Industry ushered in a new stage of rapid development. Its first vessel was delivered, its first engine was delivered, and its first 306,000 DWT VLCC was launched. Throughout the year, it completed many “firsts” and achieved many breakthroughs. Its shipbuilding orders have been scheduled until 2028.

On January 15 this year, Hengli Heavy Industry’s second-phase project “Future Factory” was officially put into production. On August 15 last year, Hengli Heavy Industry “Future Factory” started construction, dozens of construction units to seize the progress, more than 10,000 builders in this nearly 6 square kilometers of the construction site side by side, just five months to achieve production.

It is understood that the first and second phases of Hengli Heavy Industry are named “Ocean Factory” and “Future Factory” respectively. The “Future Factory” focuses on ultra-large tankers, ultra-large liquefied gas carriers, ultra-large container ships, offshore floating production and storage tankers, offshore floating wind power, drilling platforms and other high-value-added green ships and high-end offshore equipment manufacturing business, and after the full production, Hengli Heavy Industry can achieve an annual processing of 2.3 million tons of steel, annual production of 180 engines. 180 engines per year.

Recently, the General Office of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) issued the “Notice on Issuing the Typical Cases of Activating Existing Assets and Expanding Effective Investment (Second Batch),” promoting 25 typical cases nationwide. Among them, Hengli Heavy Industry revitalizing the former STX (Dalian) assets was included, making it the only case selected from the Northeast region.
