AFAI lays keel for Guangzhou’s first holographic projection tour boat

On January 15, Afai Southern Shipyard(Panyu Guangzhou) (“AFAI”) held a keel-laying ceremony for the 428-passenger “Zhujiang Yeyou” new energy sightseeing tour boat built for Guangzhou Star Cruise. The ship is the first cruise ship in Guangzhou to use 3D holographic projection technology to present a diversified appearance, and was designed by Guangzhou Marine Engineering Corporation (GUMECO).

The tour boat is 43.4 meters long and 13.5 meters wide with a designed speed of 10 knots. The ship can carry 428 passengers. It is a catamaran and is a pure electric lithium iron phosphate powered cruise ship. The ship is designed with a large number of angles and slopes on the hull, combining various geometric changes, which will produce rich light and shadow effects at different times and angles, presenting a unique aesthetic and visual appeal, showing a sense of future technology and cyberpunk style, and a wide sightseeing field.

It is worth mentioning that the ship adopts 3D holographic projection technology to present diversified appearances. 3D holographic projection is a kind of 3D technology that utilizes the principle of interference and diffraction to record and reproduce the real three-dimensional image of an object, and it is a kind of 3D technology that allows the audience to see the three-dimensional virtual characters and scenes without wearing glasses. The application of 3D holographic projection technology in the ship will allow the ship to be designed and presented with different appearances and shapes according to the needs of seasonal, scenic and activity themes and other elemental changes, which further enriches the visual enjoyment of the tourists and demonstrates the unique city charm of Guangzhou.

With its highly technological and cyberpunk-inspired exterior design, the ship will become a beautiful sight on the Pearl River at night.
