SWS expands production capacity with a 1000-ton gantry crane

On January 14th, CSSC Ninth Design & Research Institute (CSSC NDRI) successfully completed the installation of major components for a new 1000-ton 185-meter gantry crane at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS).

This project, general contracted by CSSC NDRI, is located at the entrance of Dock No. 1 at SWS. It features a track span of 185 meters and a lifting height of 76 meters. The hoisting was done using a floating crane, a new technique adopted by the company for the first time. This method not only saved space but also shortened the construction period, significantly enhancing efficiency.

Subsequently, CSSC NDRI will continue to carry out the subsequent commissioning of electrical and other related equipment for the 1,000-ton gantry crane, and strive for early delivery.
