WE delivers the third ship set of 7,500m³ LCO₂ liquid cargo tanks

On January 10th, Watts Energy & Engineering (WE) successfully shipped the third set of liquid carbon dioxide (LCO₂) cargo tanks for Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore Co. (DSOC).

The two tanks will be installed on DSOC’s world-first 7,500 m3 Liquid Carbon Dioxide (LCO₂) carrier No. 3, which will provide key equipment to support the Norwegian Northern Lights Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) program, and contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions globally.

Previously, the No.1 vessel of this series, Northern Pioneer, and No.2 vessel, Northern Pathfinder, have been successfully delivered and sailed from Dalian.

LCO₂ cargo tanks have become the core equipment in the global carbon capture and storage program. With the successful departure of 7,500 m3 LCO₂ Vessel No. 1 and Vessel No. 2 to Europe, and with the steady progress of the construction of Vessel No. 4, WE has further consolidated its leading position in the construction of cargo tanks in the field of global carbon capture with the successful construction and delivery of a series of cargo tanks.

In order to actively respond to global climate change, WE has continued to invest in the development of LCO₂ cargo tanks over the past few years. Through close cooperation with a number of domestic and foreign companies, WE has successfully developed cutting-edge technologies such as multiple types of special cryogenic steel and large-scale CO2 cargo tanks with ultra-low temperature, which have demonstrated excellent applicability in large-scale oceanic CO2 transportation.

WE will continue to promote the upgrading and iteration of LCO₂ cargo tank design and manufacturing technology, and make every effort to help the realization of the global carbon neutrality goal with higher standards and better services.
