Pot Scheepvaart orders a 6,340 dwt MPP vessel at Royal Bodewes

Dutch shipbuilder announce that Pot Scheepvaart has ordered a second 6.340 DWAT Ice Class 1A Muti-purpose vessel at Royal Bodewes Construction will start in 2026 and the vessel will be delivered Q2 2027.

The new vessel meets the 1A Ice Class standard. The specifications will be the same as NB 757 which is already under construction and will be launched next month.

In 2024, the shipping company ordered its first general cargo vessel for carrying general cargo, timber, paper, wood pulp and bulk cargo.

Pot Scheepvaart recently worked with RINA and Bodewes, to increase the vessel’s deadweight from the original 6,000 tons to 6,340 tons. Delfzijl’s Pot Scheepvaart says: “An increase of more than 5% from the initially planned 6,000 tons deadweight will make the design even more efficient.”

Royal Bodewes revealed that the first vessel is currently under construction at its shipyard in the north of the Netherlands and is expected to be launched next month. The new vessel will be named Delfzijl. The vessel will have a length of 107.23 meters, a width of 15.2 meters, a draft of 5.9 meters and a speed of 11.8 knots.

According to the official website, Pot Scheepvaart was founded in 1918 and the company currently has a total of 13 vessels ranging from 4,500 to 12,000 tons deadweight.

In related news, Royal Bodewes recently delivered the 5,800 dwt eco-cargo vessel “Marie Lehmann” to Unternehmnensgruppe Lehmann in Germany. the vessel has the same length and breadth as the two new vessels ordered by Pot The vessel has the same length and width as the two new vessels ordered by Potepvaart above.
