“Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC) held a delivery ceremony in Qidong City, Jiangsu Province, on January 5, for the world’s largest piling vessel ‘Erhang Changqing’, which was built for CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Bureau.
With an overall length of 130.5 meters and a beam of 40.8 meters with a wheel pile frame height of 150 meters, ‘Erhang Evergreen’ is capable of driving piles with a maximum weight of 700 tons and a diameter of 7 meters. It is currently the world’s piling vessel with the tallest pile frame, the largest pile lifting capacity, the longest pile driving length, and the strongest wind and wave resistance.
The vessel implements the design concept of green, low-carbon and intelligent empowerment. It is the first in the industry to apply diesel-electric hybrid DC Grid technology equipped with supercapacitors. It uses the world’s largest 5,000-ton thrust ultra-large cylinder independently researched, developed and manufactured in China, and is equipped with a piling positioning system. It can further improve fuel economy, reduce carbon emissions, and achieve centimeter-level piling positioning accuracy in deep sea, effectively improving the intelligence and digitalization level of operations, and setting a new benchmark for the intelligent and green development of piling vessels.
After delivery, ‘Erhang Evergreen’ will be used in the construction of large pile foundations, pile group foundations, wind turbine conductor piles, wind turbine single piles, etc. It will play a key role in the construction of large ports, cross-sea bridges, offshore wind power and other projects, and will add core equipment to the construction of China’s deep-sea water conservancy projects and the offshore wind power industry chain.
