On January 2, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), and China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd (CSTC) signed and delivered the 114,000 DWT Aframax product tanker “SEASCOUT”, which was the first vessel of the series built for Greece’s Thenamaris Company.
“SEASCOUT” is the latest generation of Aframax tankers independently developed and designed by SWS. This series of vessels has greatly improved the energy efficiency of the entire ship through comprehensive hydrodynamic performance optimization, configuration of hydrodynamic energy-saving ducts and vortex-eliminating fins, optimization of main engine selection and other measures. The EEDI index verified by the actual vessel has reached the third phase requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 2025 ahead of schedule. At the same time, its nitrogen oxide emissions meet Tier III requirements, and sulfur oxide emissions meet emission requirements. It is an environmentally friendly, energy-saving, safe and economical green vessel.
The 114,000 DWT Aframax product tanker is one of the key products of SWS’s current batch construction. The integrity of “SEASCOUT” has made a remarkable breakthrough and set a new record for the shortest sea trial after launching SWS’s first 114,000 DWT Aframax product tanker.
