Anhui Hangrui International RoRo Transportation’s first 7,000 CEU LNG dual-fuel ro-ro vessel completed sea trials

Recently, the first 7,000 CEU LNG dual-fuel car carrier AICC HUANGHU, invested and built by Anhui Hangrui International RoRo Transportation, a subsidiary of Anhui Port and Shipping Group, successfully returned to the port after a trial voyage. The overall performance of the vessel was excellent and was recognized by all parties involved in the trial. According to schedule, the vessel will be put into operation on China-Mediterranean Sea route as soon as possible.

This series of vessels is designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI). The vessel has an overall length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 38 meters, a depth of 15.5 meters, a maximum draught of 10 meters, a gross tonnage of 71,000 tons, and a cargo hold with 12 vehicle decks (of which 4 are movable decks), which can carry all kinds of vehicles, including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, new energy vehicles, and construction machinery.

The vessel’s propulsion system adopts the latest generation WinGD dual-fuel main engine, MacGregor electronically controlled RORO system with iCER technology, permanent magnet shaft with generator, and BOG energy-saving design, which meets the strict Tier III emission standard requirements of the International Maritime Organization.

In early July 2023, the first three 7,000 CEU LNG dual-fuel powered ro-ro vessels construction project of Hangrui International RoRo Transportation completed the public tender, with a contract price of US$88.95 million for a single vessel, which was won by Wuhu Shipyard. According to previous Anhui Port and Shipping news, the construction of these 3 Ro-Ro vessels was placed in Zhoushan East Coast Shipyard.

It is reported that the remaining two vessels of the same series will be completed and delivered in 2025. After delivery, the operation strategy will be dynamically adjusted according to the domestic and international demand, through route planning, flexible scheduling, optimizing the resource pool combination configuration, providing high-quality vehicle import and export ro-ro shipping services for domestic and international car enterprises, and promoting the development and growth of ro-ro business in Anhui Province.

Anhui Hangrui International RoRo Transportation was established in December 2022 as a tripartite joint venture between Anhui Port and Shipping Group, Chery Automobile Joint Stock Company, and JAC Motors Group. With the primary task of ensuring the smooth export of commercial vehicles from automobile enterprises in Anhui Province and actively building a supply chain and logistics system for automobile export, the company is committed to solving the problem of difficult export transportation of vehicles in Anhui Province and even in whole China.
