Recently, the 8,000-ton floating dock designed by Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) and built by Sumec Marine was officially delivered.
As an integral floating dock, the dock has 4 floating boxes and 16 ballast tanks, equipped with 2 sets of 20-ton cranes. The dock is capable of undertaking the docking of 12,000 DWT unmanned barge plus 3,600 hp top pusher combination, 12,000 DWT self-propelled deck barge, 112-meter transshipment platform, 78-meter floating crane and other ship types. The dock has a lifting capacity of 8,000 tons, equivalent to lifting about 6,500 cars at a time.
It is understood that SDARI has rich design experience in the field of all kinds of engineering vessels, such as self-trimming vessel, lifting vessel and floating dock, etc. The delivery of the 8000-ton lifting floating dock has once again verified the innovative design capability of SDARI in this field. In the future, SDARI will continue to be committed to promoting the innovation and development of China’s offshore engineering equipment, and contributing more wisdom and strength to the strategy of transportation power and ocean power.
