In December 2024, Jiangsu Watts Energy & Engineering (WE) successfully signed a contract for 22 shipsets of LNG fuel tanks with its Korean customer Donghwa Entec, marking a new high in WE’s LNG tank orders.
The signed projects include LNG fuel tanks for two vessel types: pure car truck carriers (PCTC) and bulk carriers.
5,500 CEU PCTC LNG Fuel Tanks: The project includes bi-lobe LNG fuel tanks for 8 PCTC, each with a capacity of 5,500 CEU, totaling 8 sets of tanks. Each tank has a capacity of 2,100m³, constructed by 9% nickel steel, and is in regulation of DNV. The bi-lobe tank design offers spatial optimization, efficiently utilizing cargo hold space to enhance ship loading capacity. Compared to cylindrical designs, bi-lobe tanks significantly reduce car space loss, thereby improving overall loading efficiency.
210,000 DWT Bulk Carrier LNG Fuel Tanks: This project involves LNG fuel tanks for 7 bulk carriers, amounting to 14 tanks. Each tank has a capacity of 3,000m³, constructed from 9% nickel steel, and in regulation of LR and ABS. WE’s competitive edge in quality, technological innovation, and pricing has firmly positioned it as a market leader. Over recent years, WE has secured orders for over 34 LNG fuel tanks for 210,000 DWT bulk carriers, cementing its leadership in the bulk carrier LNG fuel tank segment.
The collaboration between DHE and WE further deepens their long-standing partnership, reflecting mutual trust and a shared commitment to excellence. Through cutting-edge technology and superior products, WE has earned global recognition as a trusted partner in the energy and marine sectors.
