Zhejiang Kailing Shipyard gets an order for a 6,000 hp ASD tug

Recently, Zhejiang Kailing Shipyard (Naval Factory 4806) held a contract signing ceremony for the construction of a 6,000 hp dual-purpose azimuthing-stern drive (ASD) tug with Jieyang Yuedian Shipping Services.

It is reported that Jieyang Yuedian Shipping Service is an enterprise funded by Guangdong Yuedian Shipping Service, which mainly engages in ship towing services in the coastal areas of eastern Guangdong. It currently operates three tugboats with horsepower ranging from 3,200 to 6,000.

The newly built 6,000 hp dual-purpose ASD tug is mainly used in the coastal port area of Guangdong to help meet the berthing and jacking operations of large and super-large bulk carriers, the latest LNG carriers and super-large oil tankers, and at the same time it is equipped with emergency rescue functions such as towing at sea and fire fighting to meet the requirements of the domestic coastal navigation.

Zhejiang Kailing Shipyard (Navy 4806 Factory) is located in Zhoushan city, Zhejiang province. It was founded in 1951 and is a large military enterprise belonging to the Chinese Navy. Covering 640 square kilometers and with a coastline of 1,800 meters, the company has advanced shipbuilding facilities and highly-skilled technical teams. It has the ability to repair 10,000-ton ships and build various small and medium-sized ships in batches.

So far, it has built nearly 100 small and medium-sized ships of various types for customers from home and abroad. The factory is mainly engaged in ship repairs, construction and dismantling. At the same time, it is committed to the research and development into civilian products. It has introduced a series of civil production lines, such as textile machinery, electrical insulation treatment equipment and large steel structures. It also offers services in port machinery installation and repair.

In addition, Kailing Shipyard has recently signed a contract for the construction of a 2×1,838KW ASD tug with Guangdong Zhanjiang Port Longteng Shipping.
