On December 26, Vietnam’s Nam Trieu Shipyard held a delivery ceremony for the first 65,000DWT bulk carrier and signed a contract for two new 65,000DWT bulk carriers.
The ship, named “Truong Minh”, is the largest bulk carrier ever built in Vietnam. The ship is 199.99 meters long and 32.26 meters wide. It was launched on May 11 and sea trials were held on December 4. The ship was jointly designed by Vietnam Shipbuilding Engineering Company (Visec) and Finland’s Bluetech and is classified by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK).
The vessel is owned by Dong Bac Shipbuilding Industry JSC of Vietnam, which previously ordered two 65,000DWT bulk carriers from Nam Trieu Shipyard, with the second vessel commencing construction in May this year.
During the delivery ceremony, Dong Bac and Nam Trieu signed a contract for the construction of the third and fourth bulk carriers of the same type.
