Recently, China Offshore Oil Engineering Co received the notice of winning the bid for Saudi Aramco’s CRPO149&152 general contracting project. This is the second time that COOEC has won an independent general contracting project from Saudi Aramco after the CRPO122 project. So far, the contract value of COOEC’s Saudi Aramco CRPO project has reached US$500 million.
The CRPO149&152 general contracting project is located in Saudi Arabia’s ABSF oilfield and Saudi Arabia’s Hasbah oilfield. The main facilities include 1 jacket and 1 PDM module, covering general contracting work such as project management, detailed design, procurement, construction, transportation, installation and pre-commissioning.
It is understood that CNOOC was awarded the CRPO122 project of Saudi Aramco in April 2023, valued at about $255 million, and CNOOC is responsible for designing, procuring, constructing and installing 13 jackets (including steel piles and watertight casing) with a total weight of more than 25,000 tons.
Since the launch of the CRPO122 project, COOEC has completed the onshore construction work in just 10 months, setting a record of delivering 6 jackets in the same batch in 5 months. Based on its recognition of COOEC, Saudi Aramco has awarded the offshore installation project for the CRPO125&126 project.
COOEC said that in recent years, it has been deeply involved in the Middle East market and has successfully won bids for a number of key overseas projects such as Mazan, Saudi CRPO122, and Qatar ISND 5-2. It has successively completed a number of offshore oil and gas engineering projects in the Middle East and has become the only Chinese company shortlisted for Saudi Aramco’s offshore general contractor LTA (long-term agreement) contractor.
It is worth mentioning that COOEC Tianjin Intelligent Manufacturing Base has been fully put into production. The base is divided into two phases, with the first phase put into production in June 2022, and the second phase put into production on October 30, 2024. The Tianjin base has an annual production capacity of nearly 90,000 tons after full operation.
