CSSC 704 Research Institute to manufacture crane for a multi-purpose offshore wind SOV

Recently, the CSSC 704 Research Institute successfully received the order to manufacture the crane for the large-scale multi-purpose offshore wind service operation vessel (SOV) “Haidi Yunwei 702”. This is another order that the CSSC 704 Research Institute has received for this type of vessel after undertaking the multi-purpose offshore wind SOV “Fenghua 23”.

The “Haidi Yunwei 702” was independently designed by the Marine Design and Research Institute of China (MARIC) and built by Mawei Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Corporation (Fujian Shipbuilding) with completely independent intellectual property rights.

The crane developed by the CSSC 704 Research Institute this time has manned functions and can also take into account personnel transfer operations. It adopts integrated design and folding boom offshore crane structure, allowing for direct connection with the vessel’s installation interface.

The crane also features small storage space and large operating radius. After delivery, it will be used for loading and unloading of equipment and materials, lifting and unloading of optical fiber cables, and auxiliary operation of cable splicing on “HaiDianYunWei 702”, which will provide strong guarantee for cable laying operation of the vessel, and make it able to complete the transfer of materials, cable laying and other operations in the complex marine environment.
