On December 18, Mawei Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group (Fujian Shipbuilding), and COSCO Shipping Bulk signed a contract for a 12,000-ton self-propelled barge project.
On the same day, Southeast Shipyard, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding, successfully started the construction of Fuzhou Port 2940KW pure battery-powered tugboat (DN645-1) for Fujian Fugang Tugboat.
The tugboat is independently developed by Fujian Shipbuilding R&D and Design Institute, with an overall length of 37.6 meters, a beam of 10.5 meters, a design draft of 3.6 meters, and a gross tonnage of about 500 tons. The tugboat is made of fully welded steel, powered by lithium batteries and equipped with electric motor-driven double L-shaped ducted propellers.
It is an extended-range, pure battery-powered, fully-rotating tugboat that meets the requirements of coastal navigation and coastal operations, and is used to assist container ships, bulk carriers, hazardous chemicals and other ships in berthing and port operations in ports.
